OUR PURPOSE

We are dedicated to bringing evidence-based management of programs in the social sector.

We provide a portfolio of capabilities to help programs enhance their impact as measured by intended outcomes rather than outputs or activities. This is hard to do because outcomes take time, and it is sometimes hard to know or prove the counterfactual- What would have happened if the program was not offered? What was the impact of the program vs. environmental factors? Magnolia was created to address these central issues at the heart of first understanding and then enhancing program outcomes. We specialize in understanding the financial well-being of program participants, but our toolkit can be more broadly applied to a range of social interventions.

OUR TOOLKIT

  • Magnolia Impact Assessment App: A scalable tool to assess the financial wellbeing of program participants. We have a differentiated solution to assess programs’ impact on the financial well-being of individuals, neighborhoods and communities. We can help you assess participants’ financial well-being over time, even if they have graduated or attrited from the program. And we can compare participants’ progress to synthetic control groups. No surveys necessary.

  • Program Evaluation: We have the talent and infrastructure to conduct surveys, absorb program administrative and any other data. Our data infrastructure is cloud-based and we manage for security and privacy. Our differentiator here though are our people- their ability to analyze complex streams of data and synthesize insights and recommendations. The core team has a range of functional expertise centered on evidence-based decision making— from managing businesses to deploying machine learning-based digital products. This range of experience allows us to analyze better and deliver deeper insights.

  • Digital capabilities: We can build user-facing digital experiences and messaging platforms using principles of human-centered design. We also build beautiful dashboards. They can be powered be AI tools such as gen-AI as needed.

  • Consulting: Our staff includes ex-McKinsey consultants, social scientists, and former heads of market research teams. We can do as light or deep a review of program portfolios or individual programs across a range of strategic and operational dimensions.
